Corporal Nathan Cirillo, of the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders of Canada was killed by an habitual offender and drug addict from Montreal on October 22, 2014 as he stood sentry at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.  His killer went on to attack Parliament and was killed there by security.  The plaque was placed here one year later.
